Clay Fish Sculpture

Using the pinch-pot technique, the first graders turned a single lump of clay into a fish sculpture. They learned that clay is similar to mud and they observed the changes between moist clay and fired ceramics. The students used water colors to decorate their sculptures after the clay was fired. They had to use either warm or cool colors to paint the finished work.
